Take The Pardon

Andrew Jackson
In 1829 , a Philadelphia man named George Wilson Robbed the US Mail and killed someone in the process. Wilson was arrested, brought to trial, found guilty and sentenced to be hanged. Some friends intervened and were able to obtain a pardon for him from President Andrew Jackson.

But when Wilson was informed of this, he refused the pardon. The Sheriff was unwilling to carry out the execution. How could he when the pardon letter was laying on his desk? An appeal was sent to President Jackson. The President turned to the Supreme Court to decide the case.

Chief Justice Marshall ruled the pardon is just a piece of paper. The value of the pardon depends on its acceptance by the person implicated. So, if the pardon was refused by that person, it is then not a pardon.

George Wilson was hanged with his pardon laying on the Sheriffs desk. The pardon of Wilson pales in comparison to the greatest pardon ever offered to mankind. The forgiveness that is offered from Cross of Christ is so powerful that every single human can accept the pardon of Jesus in exchange for forgiveness of sins that leads to eternal life.

Don’t reject such a great salvation. Ask Jesus to come into your heart today

Behind the Veil

“Behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.” — Matthew 27:51

A great miracle happened in the tearing of the temple veil; but it was not intended merely as a display of power. Many lessons were taught to us through this divine display of power. The old law of ordinances was put away, and like a worn out curtain, was torn down the middle and laid aside.

When Jesus died, the sacrifices were all finished, because all fulfilled in him, and therefore the place of their presentation was marked with this evidences. That torn veil also revealed all the hidden things of the old dispensation: the mercy-seat could now be seen, and the glory of God gleamed above it.

By the death of our Lord Jesus we have a clear revelation of God, for he was “not as Moses, who put a veil over his face.” Life and immortality are now brought to light, and things which have been hidden since the foundation of the world are manifest in him. The annual ceremony of atonement was therefore abolished.

The atoning blood which was once every year sprinkled within the veil, was now offered once for all by the great High Priest, and therefore the place of the symbolical rite was broken up. No blood of bullocks or of lambs is needed now, for Jesus has entered within the veil with his own blood. Therefore, access to God is now permitted, and is the privilege of every believer in Christ Jesus.

There was not even the smallest space laid open through which the mercy-seat could be seen, but the tear in the veil reached from the top to the bottom, symbolizing the access we now have to the mercy seat. We may now come with boldness to the throne of the heavenly grace. Would it be wrong to say that the opening of the Holy of Holies in this marvellous manner by our Lord’s cry from the Cross was the type of the opening of the gates of paradise to all the saints by virtue of the Passion? Our bleeding Lord has the key of heaven; he opens and no man shuts; let us enter in with him into the heavenly places, and sit with him there till our common enemies shall be made his footstool.

Born Again

woman with hands in air

You must be born again

( modern translation of a Spurgeon devotional)

Regeneration is a subject which lies at the very basis of salvation. We should be very diligent to take heed that we really are “born again,”. There are many who think they are but are not. Be assured that the name of a Christian is not the nature of a Christian. Being born in a Christian land, and being recognized as professing the Christian religion is of no avail whatever, unless there be something more added to it-the being “born again,”. It is a matter so mysterious, that human words cannot describe it.

“The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”.  Nevertheless, it is a change which is known and felt. It is known by works of holiness, and felt by a gracious experience. This great work is supernatural. It is not an operation Read more…

red wine in glass

Evil Alcohol or Christian Cocktail

red wine in glass

Our society for the most part condones the consumption of alcohol. The makers of strong drinks will market it as a “good time” and “lets all party” all for the sake of money. It is nothing uncommon to see people drinking beer in family TV programming. Even from years gone by, the media was training our world through light hearted comedies like the Beverly Hillbillies. Everyone would laugh as Granny would break out the rheumatism medicine or Otis Campbell in the Andy Griffith show would come into the jail staggering drunk.

In this article I am not trying to judge anyone’s salvation nor motives but I have no problem saying that the Bible teaches Christians to be a teetotaler, period. Most of the reasoning for acceptance by a Christian to drink in what is called “moderation”, I perceive as flat out deception within Christianity. The problem started infecting the church when the ministers of God stopped taking a stand for total abstinence in lieu of better attendance.

No drunks in Heaven

Full blown alcoholics did not start out that way, it was one drink at a time until they eventually lose control and no longer care. Don’t be fooled, drunkards will not  Read more…

jews on train during holocaust

America’s Modern Holocaust

jews on train during holocaust

There is the testimony of a Christian that lived in Germany during the Holocaust. He said they heard the stories of what was happening to the Jews but they tried distancing themselves from it because, what could anyone do to stop it?

A railroad track ran behind his small church and each Sunday morning the church could hear the whistle of a train as it approached and then the wheels coming over the tracks. As the trains would pass, they could hear cries and screams coming from the railcars as the trains passed by. They soon realized it was Jews like cattle in the cars! Week after week the whistle would blow.

They soon come to dread the blast of whistle and the sound of the train wheels because they knew soon they would hear the cries of Jews en route to a death camp. The screams tormented them. As time went by, when they would hear the whistle of the train, they would begin to sing hymns. By the time the train would pass the church they were singing at the top of their lungs. If they heard screams they would sing even louder and soon they heard them no more.

The man telling this testimony said that no one talked about it anymore but he could still hear the train whistle in his sleep. He said “God forgive me; forgive all us who called ourselves Christians yet did nothing to intervene” .

Now we have our own modern day holocaust in America. The murder of innocent unborn children. The latest laws passed in our country our unthinkable. Some states allow abortion up to birth, full term 9 months. Some have even considering allowing the mother to decide a child’s fate even after birth! That is infanticide.

How much longer will the church try to ignore the silent screams of the innocent? We must stand up for the unborn child. There should be more choices for the mothers, not just one of death. It is truly a modern day holocaust that history will look back on as one of the most vile atrocities of the human race

The whistles are blowing of drug addictions, violence, and all manner of evils that are overwhelming souls. Will YOU help us carry the message of Christ and Him Crucified into the world through our radio network?

Small amounts add up, prayerfully consider in helping our ministry carry out the Great Commission

Man looking up

Looking Unto Jesus

Man looking up

“Looking unto Jesus.” — Hebrews 12:2

It is ever the Holy Spirit’s work to turn our eyes away from self to Jesus; but Satan’s work is just the opposite of this, for he is constantly trying to make us regard ourselves instead of Christ. He insinuates, “Your sins are too great for pardon; you have no faith; you do not repent enough; you will never be able to continue to the end; you have not the joy of his children; you have such a wavering hold of Jesus.”

All these are thoughts about self, and we shall never find comfort or assurance by looking within. But the Holy Spirit turns our eyes entirely away from self: he tells us that we are nothing, but that “Christ is all in all.” Remember, therefore, it is not your hold of Christ that saves you -it is Christ; it is not your joy in Christ that saves you -it is Christ; it is not even faith in Christ, though that is the instrument-it is Christ’s blood and merits; therefore, look not so much to your hand with which your are grasping Christ, as to Christ; look not to your hope, but to Jesus, the source of your hope; look not to your faith, but to Jesus, the author and finisher of thy faith. Why celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

shamrock - st patricks day

Why celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day?

Our modern society has turned Saint Patrick’s Day into four leaf clovers, leprechauns, beer and parties. The truth about the real Saint Patrick’s Day can be found through a study in history. A record of Saint Patrick’s life is in a book he wrote called Confessions.

Who was St Patrick

The young boy Patrick lived a comfortable life in England. However, at the age of 16, his life became unraveled. Irish pirates attacked his village, abducting Patrick and many of the household servants. After arriving in Ireland, he was sold as a slave and had to work with a herd of pigs.

In the midst of the slavery, God began to transform Patrick’s heart. In Confessions he wrote, “I was sixteen and knew not the true God, but in a strange land the Lord opened my unbelieving eyes, and I was converted.”. Patrick became convinced that his trials were opportunities to know Jesus Christ better. “Anything that happens to me,” he wrote, “whether pleasant or distasteful, I ought to accept with serenity giving thanks to God … who never disappoints.”

Patrick escaped from slavery 6 years later as a stowaway on a boat back to his home country of England. Yet through a dream God called him to return to Ireland; not as a slave but as a preacher of t Read more…

unforgiveness

The Poison of Unforgiveness

unforgiveness

Unforgiveness is the single most popular poison that the enemy uses against God’s people, and it is one of the deadliest poisons a person can take spiritually. God allowed the Israelites to face diseases and sickness when they disobeyed Him (Deut 28:58-61), and when they would turn back to Him, He would heal their land and take sickness from their midst (Exodus 23:25, Deut 7:15).

In the New Testament, Jesus gave us two commandments (Matthew 22:37-40), and if we break those, we can be opened up to curses, just as the people in the Old Testament were. Jesus never came to abolish the moral law (Matthew 5:17), but He did come to set us free from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13), meaning, Jesus paid the price so we can be set free from any curses we may have come under.

Two commandments given to us by God

Matthew 22:37-40, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Jesus gave us very important commandments to follow; one of them was to Read more…
